MATHS AND SCIENCE

The Year 7/8 students have started term 4 by learning new scientific and mathematical concepts.

This term for Science, Year 7/8 students will study the units of Biology and Geology. In Biology, students will learn about the human body systems e.g. digestive system, respiratory system etc.

In the unit of Geology, students will study about the different resources of earth and how to conserve them.

Students will further explore their knowledge about these units by going to Melbourne Museum and IMAX where they will view different galleries related to the human body systems and watch a video about Earth’s resources.

The following are the major assessments that will occur this term for Maths and Science.

Year 7 Maths:

• Quizzes on Ch. 7 & 8
• Test on Ch. 7 & 8
• Assignment on Ch. 8

Year 7 Science:

• Inquiry/project
• Quiz

Test Year 8 Maths:

• Ch. 9 quizzes
• Analysis/ project Ch. 9
• Ch. 7 & 9 Test

Year 8 Science:

• Poster/assignment
• Quiz
• Test

Students’ assessments will be checked and discussed with them individually and their results will be entered on SEQTA. Please take your time to look through your child’s results and let me know if you have any concerns.
